This time of year is when grass will start to slow down its growth. Sometimes it can be tough to get your lawn to stay lush and green through the summer. The key is regular mowing on a higher setting, less frequent, deeper watering, and a kick butt fertilization program!

Continuing to mow frequently at a higher setting will encourage the lawn to grow longer and healthier. We (and most other companies) recommend cutting no more than a third of the blade off each week – like when you’re at the salon getting a trim. If your lawn is dying, call us and let us know to raise our blades at your property and let it grow a bit longer each week.

Watering less often (even once a week) but for longer will encourage your grass to grow deep roots to better withstand the heat of the summer. Shorter, more frequent waterings encourage shallow root growth, because the water doesn’t filter down far enough for the roots to grow.

Our fertilization program uses a natural, time-release granular product that deeply feeds the lawn for 5 weeks! Our program helps your lawn grow thicker and greener, which not only looks the best, but it will also crowd out those pesky weeds and cool down the soil. Call the office to set this program up!

Here’s wishing your lawn a healthy summer, and all of you a happy 4th of July! Remember: WE MOW ALL MAJOR HOLIDAYS, so we will be out this Friday to take care of your lawn 🙂
