First things first – what is trimming? Many of our customers confuse trimming with edging, so I’m here to clear it up! When EDGING, we run our stick edger along the divide between grass and concrete to create a perfect, straight gap. TRIMMING is when the technician will trim grass that the mower can’t reach, like along fences, or house walls.

There are certain things that we don’t trim, for several reasons. We will never trim along or over any landscaping like rock or mulch in your yard for safety reasons. In the past, when we’ve done it as a special customer request, we’ve broken windows, injured technicians, and damaged our equipment. So this is a no-exception rule. We also won’t trim around trees without tree guards, unless you request it to be done specifically. Hand trimming can be difficult, and it’s almost impossible to avoid grazing a tree occasionally. Due to past damages inflicted on trees, our new policy is never to trim close to trees without tree guards, unless you request it and understand that we may damage the tree.

Summing up…

We WILL Trim:
– Along fences and walls
– Around trees with tree guards or dirt perimeters

We WON’T Trim:
– Over rock/mulch beds or other landscaping (use our Weed Control Spray instead!)
– Around bare trees – UNLESS a customer specifically requests it
– Trees or bushes as maintenance (ask us for a referral)
