School has started and Fall is just around the corner! We know how important the health of your lawn is, so to get ready for the fall we recommend a Fall Aeration! Getting that top soil and grass brought up by the aeration machine will help your lawn receive more water and nutrition.  Here are some common questions associated with Aeration of the lawn!

Table of Contents

Q: Why should I aerate?

A: A successful lawn is based on a deep root system, and aeration promotes this by allowing air, water, and nutrients to get to the root system.

Q: How often should I Aerate?

A: Once a year if you like your lawn, but twice a year if you love your lawn! We recommend doing both a spring and fall aeration. CSU turf school says aeration is one of the best things you can do for your lawn, and we agree.

Q:What type of Aerator does Erbert Lawns use?

A: A BlueBird Model 530A. The width of the machine is 48”.

Q:How deep are the plugs and how far apart are they?

A:The plugs can get down to 3 inches deep if the soil is moist. If the soil is very dry, the plugs will not be as deep. The plugs will be about 3 inches apart.

Q: What do I need to do before Erbert Lawns come out to Aerate?

A: Please mark all sprinkler heads in the middle of the yard if you have any. Also please water the night before or morning of to achieve a deeper plug.

Q: Can the Technician go over my lawn twice?

A: Yes! If you want extra plugs, we can go over the lawn twice. Keep in mind that the charge will be 150% of what it would normally be.
